We are progressing in speech therapy but still have lotsa homework to do. If your child starts slow in speaking, ignore those "because he's a boy, sure speak later" I suggest doing few session of speech therapy to help you to help your child communicate better.
The keyword is communicate, which comes in the form of not only speaking, but understand and able to make physical gestures. This also helps to minimise frustrations, especially younger kids who are unable to express themselves throughly
