"The Montessori Work Mat define the student’s workspace and to reinforce Montessori's principle of "freedom within limits". There is such an element of respect with having that defined workspace and it is something that the students take very seriously. In Montessori schools, preschool students are shown how to walk around the mats, how to place their work on the mats and how to respect one another’s personal workspace. They also learn that it is never okay to disturb a classmate’s work or join a classmate’s work unless permission is given by that student. " - Quote
I remember one report from little boy's previous Montessori school they learned how to roll the mat and return it after. This is something interesting I would like to teach the kids. Ever since little girl is up and about, it is either Korkor coming in the invade the little sister's play or meimei trying to snatch something from Little boy's material.
We will work on this more after the mat arrives. It be fun to see how the kids will work independently (and of course, pray for no quarrel!) 😁 The picture shown is little girl's first try with Work Mat. She literally just place her fat bum bum in the mat to do her scoop work 🤦🏻♀️ Think with her cat like nature she will want to lie on the mat like how she sits in a box! Updates more to come!
