New post: Montessori at home. Version 3 of his room setup. His cot wasn't utilised hence I took his mattress down and lay it to the floor to maximise the soft floors to prevent bumps. The mattress was at the corner with additional puzzle mats at the sides. He seemed to like the hard mats instead of the bed 😅 because he's very prone to bumps, hence the floor is baby proof with the mats. When he's older and more stable I'll remove the mats. Floor bed setups encourage the child to allow him to explore as and when he likes and feel to. For example, when he wakes up from his nap or in the middle of the night, he can choose to do what he likes. Sometimes he will just dive into the ball pit or just flip some books. Or if he's tired, he can rest at his bed. All within his reach.
