Mealtimes

Writer's picture: Mummy SMummy S

New post: Daily chores. Mealtimes are his favourite (I think) He gets to play with his food, throw them everywhere.... He didn't really like high chairs in the beginning, so I had him to use this little IKEA tier just when he began to sit up. The height is just nice for him to reach out for things around. Then progressively as he grew taller, he had a table all for himself and could climb onto the chair to sit at the table. I also had this table mat to have him place his bowl and bottle in the marked area. Every time he removes the bowl or bottle, I will tell him and show him the correct place the things should be placed, I.e. the table mat. And that he should be sitting down and eating, not swing the bowl and snacking as and when he like around the house. After a while you should be able to see he will get used to the practice, now I didn't have to put the mat and he gladly volunteered to bring his food to the table from the kitchen! Of course sometimes he will demand to be on the high chair to have meals with us. For meals himself would usually be light snacks such as biscuits, bread, mantou (steamed bread), and others. And I usually does this when I need to prep for the family's dinner or breakfast. The light snacks is also easier for me to clean up. Give your child a little space to do what he wants and guide him along. You will be amazed how he can achieve things quickly and he feels confident to step out.

Little boy was around 18 months old at this moment.
